What Does It Mean to Override Requirements and When Should I Do It?
Sometimes the credit requirements for an attorney’s compliance period might change. In these cases, a period’s requirements can be manually overridden in CLESite.
Examples of when an attorney’s requirements may be overridden:
- An attorney is actively practicing law in a different jurisdiction or is inactive in a jurisdiction for some or all of a reporting period.
- An attorney’s newly admitted period is shorter than the jurisdiction’s normal reporting period, due to the attorney’s date of admission to the state bar.
- An attorney qualifies for disability inactive status.
- An attorney has been granted an exemption by a state’s Mandatory CLE Board after demonstrating good cause.
Before making any changes to an attorney’s credit requirement, please check with the attorney’s jurisdictional board to ensure that any adjustments made are correct.
How to Override Requirements:
- In InstructorSite, CLESite, or CPDSite, search for a User, go to their applicable Plan and select Show Details.
- Select Make an Adjustment.

- Under Adjustment Type, click Change Requirements.

- In the New Required column, enter in the adjusted values for the period’s credit requirements, fill out the Reason for this Adjustment field, then click Submit.

- The CLE Plan will now show the values from the New Required field, and the Plan will show the reason for the exemption at the top.
