How to migrate from HTTP to HTTPS

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. The 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.

How to confirm UniversitySite is properly configured for HTTPS:

  1. Visit InstructorSite in your browser
  2. If the URL starts with HTTP, you are NOT using HTTPS.
  3. If the URL starts HTTPS, try changing it to HTTP.  If the URL is not automatically changed back to HTTPS, UniversitySite is not configured to force the use of HTTPS.

Contact support@profiscience.com to request a configuration change that forces the use of HTTPS but first, you’ll need to confirm that your Single-Sign-On (SSO) provider is compatible:

  1. Visit InstructorSite in your browser
  2. Click on your name to reveal the drop down
  3. Click on Global Settings
  4. Click on Login Settings

The following SSO providers are HTTPS compatible: ADFS, Azure AD, OKTA, OneLogin, SecureAuth.

If the Login Method is set to UniversitySite SSO, you’ll need to switch to one of the HTTPS compatible SSO providers.  Please note, there are yearly fees for these providers, contact Lawren.Finley@profiscience.com for more information.
