How to Use Knowledge Check
The Knowledge Check Extension allows Instructors to integrate assessments into UniversitySite Courses to better evaluate and assist the progress of their Learners.
Setting up a Knowledge Check Test
- Create a new On-Demand Course.
- Under On-Demand Content select Knowledge Check from the Content Type list.
The Knowledge Check Extension is not active if the below message appears. Follow the link for details about obtaining the extension.
To design the questions that Users will be asked, click the Open Knowledge Check Designer button.
Within the Knowledge Check Designer, the General Settings section allows the Instructor to customize aspects such as the Title, Description, and number of questions the Learner will be asked. Descriptions of each option are included by the fields.
The Knowledge Check’s questions are added from the Questions section. Click on the indented dropdown below the Questions dropdown to edit the questions.
Questions can be set up to be either Multiple Choice or True/False. Multiple Choice questions have a default of 4 answer options. More options can be added with the Add Option button below the answers, or removed by clicking the Blue Trashcan Icon to the right of the answer.
Select the appropriate answer in the Correct Answer dropdown.
The Randomize Option Order toggle is defaulted to be On. This means the order of answer options to a question will be randomly arranged each time the test is taken. Fill in any other desired information such as the Answer Explanation.
Any Related Courses, Resources, or Websites can be linked by clicking the Clipboard Icons to the right of these fields.
Specific questions can be left out of the test by clicking on the Skip This Question toggle.
When finished, the questions can be tested by clicking Preview at the left of the Knowledge Check Designer window. Click Continue to return to editing the Course and click Save Course to save all changes made.
The Learner’s Experience
Users taking the Knowledge Check can adjust the volume of the quiz’s sound effects at the top left of the Knowledge Check Player. Users can also click the Save For Later button to resume the test later.
Choosing correct and incorrect answers will appear to Learners as below.
After completing all questions, Learners click Submit Answers and either pass or fail the Knowledge Check depending on what the Passing Score field is set at in the General Settings.
Instructor Overview of Test Results
In the Overview tab of the Course, Instructors can see a breakdown of the results of all the completed Knowledge Check tests.
