Expiration Dates for Courses, Resources, and Credits

There are two different types of Expiration Dates that exist in UniversitySite.

  1. Expiration of Courses or Resources
  2. Expiration of Credits

Expiration Dates on Courses and Resources

Like a "Best used by [Date]" stamp on a food product, these expiration dates serve no other purpose than to help you "serve fresh, not stale," content to your learners. Nothing happens when the date is reached, but someone might partake of some "stale" content if you don't review it from time to time and retire content that is no longer relevant.🙂

When creating a course or resource, under the Advanced Section, you will see the expiration date field. This will automatically populate a value of two years from the date you are creating the course, but you can change the value to a different date.

Searching for and reporting on expired courses or resources

Use the status filter, search by Expired Courses/Resources or Courses/Resources Expiring soon. You can then select all to download a report, or you can edit and retire these items directly from the page.

Expiring soon means within the next 30 days.

Expiration Dates on CLE/CPD Credits

After the expiration date, completed courses still appear in your history but won’t apply to your CLE/CPD plan. Only expired credits won’t apply; other valid credits will.

To find courses with expired credits, use the status filter: “Expired Credits.”

Searching for and reporting on expired credits:

Go to Course and from the status filter, search by Expired Credits. From here, you can select all and download a report that will list the courses with expired credits.
