Time Zones - How to list them in the import tools
How should a time zone be listed on an import?
Since just an abbreviated time zone can result in a duplication, it is necessary to use a full or partial Display Name seen in the far right column of the table below. For example, CST alone could represent: Canada Central Standard Time, Central Daylight Time, or China Standard Time. For our imports, we ask that you use the Display Name when populating a time zone on an import file.
As an example, if you want to list something in the Eastern Time zone, it does not matter whether you are in Daylight Savings Time or not. The system will translate times accordingly. But to ensure that we are targeting the correct time zone, you could list in any of these ways:
- (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
- Eastern Time
- Eastern Time (US & Canada)
As long as you use all or part of the Display Name, the import will recognize the time zone.
Another example is AUS Eastern Standard Time. You could list the time zone in any of these ways:
- (UTC+10:00) Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney
- Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney
- Sydney
Any of these will work and times are adjusted through Microsoft according to whether you are in Daylight Savings Time or not.
