PLI Feed – How it Works and How to Troubleshoot

What does the PLI Feed send us?

• Courses and attendance for CLE/CPD programs

• If attendance is sent with a CLE/CPD credit type that does not match what we have, we will import anyway. Attendance will be registered on the course history, but no credits will be added.

• We do not accept attendance where no jurisdictional credits are assigned.

People are matched up in UniversitySite according to their email address.

The email address at PLI must match the email address in UniversitySite.

The feed is always a 10-day lookback.

If data is rejected, PLI will continue to send for 10 days. If not successful after that, it falls off and is not captured.

As an example, a person is newly hired at a firm. The previous firm she came from also had a PLI subscription. If she did not update her email with PLI, the email addresses from both systems would not match and the data is rejected. If you update the email address at PLI and it now matches, UniversitySite will then pass the data through as long as it is within the 10 -day window.

Typical types of problems reported:

• Data is rejected due to a mismatch of email addresses between UniversitySite and PLI.

• Data is sent but CLE credit type sent does not match our system. For example, NY Law credit types are Ethics, Skills, Professional Practice, or Practice Management. If the CLE credits sent are NY General, it does not match our credit types. In this case, we import the attendance but give no CLE credit.

• Data is not in the feed.

Troubleshooting

• Always first check to see if the email addresses match in both systems.

• If information shows on a course history but no credits are awarded, ask us to check our logs for a credit type mismatch.

• If the information does not appear at all on a person’s record, this means it did not come through the feed/ For this situation, you should contact PLI directly to see why it was not in the feed.
