How to Add Multilingual Captions to ScormFly Videos in UniversitySite

Use a separate caption file for each language you want learners to select while watching a ScormFly video. For example, upload one English file and one French file rather than combining both languages into a single SRT file.

Prepare the caption files

• Create one standard SRT file for each language. VTT files also work if that is the format you have.
• Keep the cue numbers and timestamps in each file.
• The language files can use the same timestamps when the translated captions correspond to the same spoken segments.
• Name the files clearly, such as English.srt and French.srt.

Each file contains its own complete caption track. Cue numbers identify individual captions within that file; they do not identify the language.

Upload and label the files

1. In InstructorSite, go to Courses and open the course.
2. On the Overview tab, find the On-Demand Content section.
3. Click Video Options for the video.
4. Under Captions, upload each language file.
5. The caption label defaults to the filename and is editable. Set the labels to learner-facing language names such as English and French, then save.

The label is what learners see in the player’s caption menu. They can use the CC control to switch between the uploaded languages.
