Storing Statements
Statements sent from LIL are now saved when a user cannot be found in the database. If a user is not found, it will contain the email address from the LIL statement. By storing these statements rather than ignoring them, we can now offer instructors a way to pair them to a valid UniversitySite user.
Notifications
There is now a way to get a notification when a mismatch occurs. On the API Keys page, a new section has been added in LinkedIn Learning.
An email address added here will receive a message any time a mismatch occurs between a user and an email address. It will not receive a message when a mismatch occurs for a course. The email sent contains information about the learner, the LIL course, and the UniversitySite course, as well as a link to the XAPI Log where the manager can correct the mismatch and some information on the suggested next steps.
Resolving Mismatches
The XAPI Log has a few new features. An alert is now shown at the top of the page if there are mismatched records. It lists the number of users with mismatched records, not the total number of mismatched records. If one user completed multiple courses, it would still only list one learner. When a statement doesn't have a user to match, we display the email we attempted to match on instead of a user's name.
Clicking the alert will launch a window for resolving the mismatches. Each mismatched user will be listed, along with a total count of their unmatched courses. There is also a user select dropdown for choosing a user to assign that email address to. This will not create a permanent association between that LIL email and the US user; The user will still be responsible for changing their LIL email address to match their US email address.
Once saved, all of the completions for each mismatched email will be assigned to the selected user as an XAPI completion. It will look identical to a completion granted to a user with synced emails. Not all users have to be matched in order to save. The instructor can match as many of few as they would like. The alert will persist until all of the mismatches have been corrected.
