How to Test SAML Configuration Without Interrupting Production

If you are currently NOT using a SAML type login, for example, you are using "Login Form", "Windows Authentication" or "UniversitySite SSO", you can test your SAML settings without forcing everyone to login via SAML.

First, go into the Login Settings in Global Settings and enter and save all your SAML settings for your SAML provider.

Now, QUICKLY go back and select your prior login settings (for example: "Use Login Form") and SAVE SETTINGS. This makes sure all users still use the old login method while YOU test the new SAML login method.

YOU (or anyone) can now test your SAML login/logout by adding "/saml/login" to the URL for your instance of UniversitySite. For example: https://XXX.universitysite.com/UniversitySiteXXX/saml/login (where XXX is the name of your site).

Repeat this process as often as necessary to work out the SAML settings.

When everything is working for SAML login and logout, you can just select your SAML login method and SAVE SETTINGS one final time to lock in SAML for ALL users.
