How to Bulk Import Content to Your Cloud Site

NOTE: This article only applies to you if your site is in the cloud.  You are always welcome to upload new content to and create courses through the interface.  This process only applies to bulk imports of course content.

Sometimes you have the need to bulk import many courses and the content for these courses rather than using the UniversitySite interface to create the course profile then manually browse for and upload the content/scorm package.

When your site is in the cloud you cannot copy the files to that web server for staging for the import process so this means you need to provide us the files so we can do that for you.  As a convenience, we have traditionally also just performed your bulk import for you since it is easier for us to troubleshoot filename mismatches between what you specified on the CSV for import and the actual filename of the files you upload.

Bulk Import Course and Content Requirements

We will gladly help you with your bulk import needs but you need to abide by the following restrictions if you want us to do this at no cost to you.  If your upload does not conform to this we will ask you to correct it.

1. Using either this OneDrive link (10GB file size limit) or your own file transfer tool, upload for us a SINGLE zip file containing all of the files that will be uploaded.
   1. This SINGLE zip file should NOT contain other zip files or folders that contain more content that will need to be extracted or copied out to produce a flat list of files
   2. When we unzip the zip file you upload the result should be a list of files without folders (zip files if you are uploading SCORM packages)
2. A single CSV file that has the import data we need to perform two separate imports 
   1. Create course profiles
   2. Upload the SCORM content you want to the courses we created

The only exception to the one zip file upload would be if you have more than your file upload system can handle in a single file OR I've asked for missing files.

Additional Information

Please note we usually can perform a bulk update for you the same or next business day but this can vary based on workload and how well the above guidelines were followed.

We've attached a template CSV file that has the data for creating both the course profile for associating and uploading the content you want for that course to have.

If you need to perform other bulk imports such as independent resources, the same basic process applies but you would use the independent resource template found in Global Settings for your CSV.
