2018-06-15 New Features for identifying eLearning that contains Adobe Flash

As of June 2018, UniversitySite's analytics revealed that 28% of the users are using a browser that is blocking Flash.
Adobe is planning to kill off Flash in 2020, but Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are already blocking Flash. Microsoft says Internet Explorer will start blocking Flash in 2019.  Yet, today much of our eLearning relies on Flash and users of modern browsers are noticing.
There are two things that you can do to improve the situation for users of modern browsers.
  1. Don't add any more eLearning to UniversitySite that contains Adobe Flash.  To assist with this, UniversitySite displays a warning if you attempt to add eLearning that contains Adobe Flash.
  2. Review all existing eLearning content that contains Adobe Flash and replace eLearning that doesn't work in modern browsers.  Just because it contains Adobe Flash, doesn't mean it won't work in a modern browser.  This is because some eLearning will fall back to HTML5 if Adobe Flash is not available. To assist with this, UniversitySite provides a filter to help you identify which courses contain Adobe Flash.

Sadly, every course that contains Adobe Flash needs to be launched, viewed, and completed in a modern browser to verify its compatibility.  We provide professional services to assist with this and other administrative functions related to servicing UniversitySite, contact sales@profiscience.com for more info.
