Users Missing or Not Updated in UniversitySite

Applies To

  • UniversitySite Cloud (vs Behind the firewall installations)
  • Behind the Firewall Installations (vs UniversitySite Cloud)

Intended Audience

  • System administrators

Background

From time to time something goes wrong and new users no longer appear in UniversitySite or updates to existing users no longer occur.

Symptoms

  • New users are not added to UniversitySite
  • Name or job title changes are not updated in UniversitySite
  • User sync email no longer goes out to designated contacts

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure that the scheduled task running this sync on your web server is using credentials that are still valid (not expired password for example)
  • Check the scheduled task that runs UniversitySite on your web server last ran successfully and note when it last ran
  • Check for the missing user/s in the User Sync tool on your web server at c:\Program Files (x86)\Profiscience Partners\User Sync\ActiveDirectoryImport.exe by editing your sync and clicking Preview on the second tab (Setup).  You can sort by columns to make this search easier
  • Verify that the User Sync runs successfully and pulls in data when you run it manually
  • Verify that the user account used to run the scheduled task has the following rights
  1. Local Admin Group membership
  2. Logon as a service (for scheduled task)
  3. Domain Users group membership
  4. Account must have read access to the Profsiciencē Partners program file directory where the AD Import program resides

Resolution

If the sync ran successfully but did not add the accounts, the rights won't be the issue more than likely.

Most of the time it's because these user accounts are missing a required field in AD, such as City or perhaps Office, whichever you are mapped to in your sync.

This is the usual cause in cases like this. The default is to map to Office (physicaldeliveryoffice), but you might be using City (l).

You can see it in your filter on the sync because it will have in the string, (physicaldeliveryoffice = *) or (l=*).
