InstructorSite Credit Editor

Name

This is what used to be called the regulatory agency.  It is basically the name of the body publishing the credit requirements and types, e.g. IT, HR, PD, etc.

Description

It never hurts to put in a few details about what the purpose of this credit is and how you are setting it up to be used.

Status

  • Active - when you want to use a credit use this status
  • Retired - when you are done using the credit use this status so that other instructors cannot add it to courses or plans.  Setting a credit status to retired does NOT remove it from existing courses or plans.  If you want to do that and don't care about history, just delete the credit.

Department

If you want to limit access to use this credit to a department or departments, specify them here.

Limit Self-Study

Self-study is learning a user does on his own, apart from an instructor.  If you want to limit how much of that they can do while earning the credits you specify here, flip that switch on.

Carry Over

Rarely used, but you CAN turn this on and specify an amount in excess of the requirement that can be carried over to the next year.

Credits

If you are creating a NEW credit this area will be blank until you Add credit.  When you use that link, you need to specify the following:

  • Name - this is the credit name itself e.g. document processing, or perhaps general
  • Required - this is where you specify how many credits every year must be earned
  • Self study limit - this appears only when have the switch for it enabled and allows you to specify the maximum amount of credit that can be earned from On-demand courses (non-instructor-led)
  • Carry Over Limit - this appears only when you have the switch for it enabled and allows you to specify the maximum amount of this credit that can be carried over to the next year.

TIP: Don't forget that your credit does you little good until you BOTH add it to some courses using either the course editor or with the new bulk editor [add and verify link] AND add it as a requirement to a learning plan with enrollees in it.
