Browser and Network Requirements

UniversitySite is a cloud service. Your learners and administrators use it in a web browser at your firm's universitysite.com address, with nothing to install. Most firms need no special network setup. This article lists the supported browsers, and the email address every firm should allow.

Supported browsers

  • Edge
  • Chrome
  • Safari

Use a current version. Add *.universitysite.com to your browsers' trusted or allowed sites so pop-up blockers don't interfere with course launches.

Email from UniversitySite

UniversitySite sends email from the dedicated IP address 192.254.123.145. Add it to your email allowlist so notifications, meeting requests and reminders aren't blocked.

ScormFly Extension

If your firm uses the ScormFly Extension for video courses, learners also need to reach a few ScormFly hosts. See the network requirements in ScormFly Extension for UniversitySite. Firms without the extension can skip this.

Frequently Asked Questions

The browser asks for permission to access devices on the local network. Is that required?

No. UniversitySite and ScormFly never need to reach anything on your local network. Chrome and Edge show that prompt when a security agent routes a public address through a private network address. Excluding the affected hosts from tunneling or inspection removes the cause. Your IT team can also use the Chrome and Edge policy LocalNetworkAccessIpAddressSpaceOverrides to treat the agent's address range as public.

Do we need to allow anything else for courses that link to other sites?

Yes. Courses that play YouTube videos, open a vendor's website, or launch content hosted by a provider such as LinkedIn Learning need access to that site as well.
