Setup My LearningSite Home Page

Administrators can customize the look and feel of the LearningSite navigation bar and home page widgets.

General Guidance

We recommend that a banner (Hero effect image) should be 1170px wide, and around 300-400px tall. 

Global Settings

Choose Global Settings from the drop-down menu under your name to begin customizing LearningSite.

Custom Hyperlinks

You can add up to 5 custom links at the top of the page.  Just click and paste the link in the Custom Link URL field and give it a friendly label. 

Tip: Don't forget, you must use the ENTER key to commit changes you make here. Clicking out of the field you type in won't do it.

Branding

Your logo can be added to the left or right of the search bar by clicking the image placeholder

The large “Hero effect” image can be removed and replaced with one of your own by clicking on the image.  You can edit the text displayed as well as use the insert image button to paste in a URL to the image of your choice.  You should first use the InstructorSite Admin tool “Image Manager” to upload your image, then right-click on that image and choose properties to copy the URL to your clipboard that you can use here and with any widgets you might want images for also.  Be sure to click the blue checkmark to save your changes in the upper right.

Navigation Bar Colors

Wish you could make LearningSite use your firm colors?  You can!

Use the color selector located to the right of each field. If you need an exact match, get the hex reference for your color and paste it in the appropriate field.  Don’t forget to click Save Colors when finished.

Calendar Year

You can change LearningSite’s reporting periods to align with your fiscal year:

Color Coding for Departments

If you are using Departments or Sponsors to organize who can edit instructor created content and help learners find content, you can also set a color for each Department.

Onboarding Game Settings

The onboarding game is designed to introduce users to LearningSite in a fun and engaging way to ease the transition from legacy systems.  You can enable and disable the game here as well as disable specific badges that the game awards e.g. Mobile badge which many may not be able to complete.  If you scroll to the bottom of the game settings, you can choose which video rewards they might see upon completing the game as well as edit the text for the Congratulations page.

Customizing the Home page

The home page is made up of a series of widgets. If you are an administrator, you can add, remove, and re-arrange the widgets using the information bar displayed below:

To add a new textbox widget, ‘Click here to begin editing’ as shown above, and then click drop-down arrow at the right of any widget and choose insert new textbox widget.  Give the widget a title and some content.  You can use the rich text editor or the HTML editor.

If inserting an image using the picture button, you first need to upload it to the Image Manager Admin tool in InstructorSite Admin tools, right-click on the uploaded image, then get properties and copy the URL for it. 

After making changes to the home page you will be presented with an option to publish the changes to your users:
