Courses - Assign Prerequisites

Task

Sometimes it is important that learners don't come to an event you schedule or take an on-demand course in your system until they have taken one or more other courses so that they are prepared for the typically more advanced information which builds upon assumed prior knowledge taught in other courses.  You manage this situation by adding one or more prerequisites for a course.

Steps

1. Edit the course you want to assign prerequisites to from the Courses page (e.g. edit part 2 to assign part 1 as a prerequisite)
2. From the quick menu on the left choose Advanced
3. In the Prerequisites field begin typing the name of the course you want to assign as a prerequisite (e.g. part 1 of course x)
4. Decide whether you need to actually Enforce Compliance with the selected prerequisite/s or just warn them. The default for this switch is off. When it is OFF UniversitySite will only warn them that there is a prerequisite set but allow them to bypass the prerequisite.
